How Estate Agents Buy their Own Homes

10th September 2018

Three estate agents who know the tricks of the trade tell their own stories of landing a dream home

Yes, sometimes we get a sneak peek before properties go on the market but just like everyone, all we want is to find our Home Sweet Home. Alasdair, Ben and Charlie have each bought in the last few months and they share their happy endings.

First Time Buyer

Ben - I was lucky enough to first see my new home before it went on the market, it was exactly what I was looking for, low maintenance apartment on the outskirts of town. I imagined it would be a relatively easy process as I do this every day for others, negotiating a sale and taking it through to completion. Nothing beats the feeling of going to court and walking out with keys to your own home. I feel I am in a better position to empathise and advise others going through the same adventure.

Charlie & Karl - We lived in our first home for 22 years and with our two sons we needed the extra space and took on a project converting a property in St Pierre du Bois. We moved in 10 weeks after completion, having fitted a new kitchen and bathrooms, redecorating throughout and some minor wall moving. I love our home but particularly our garden, it’s my tranquillity.

Setting up Home

Alasdair & Jo - We were lucky enough to rent from family which meant we were in an amazing position to jump on the right property when it came along. My girlfriend Jo knew immediately on the first viewing it was meant to be our home, she could see the potential and we made an offer. On the day of completion we were in court for 9am and by 10:30am we were ripping up carpets . It’ll take a while but we are enjoying the adventure and finding our feet together.
